About our Organization

Hartland Winter Trails is a very-loosely organized group of people who enjoy cross-country skiing and/or snowshoeing, and who want to maintain a network of trails for that purpose in the town of Hartland, Vermont. Volunteers are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the trail network. There are no formal requirements for membership, only an interest in the cause. The group is governed by By-Laws, which provides for a board of directors. The board of directors meets once annually. The members-at-large meet once annually in the fall. Funding is provided by donations from supporters and by the occasional fund-raising activity. The group receives support from the Town of Hartland in the form of liability insurance and accounting services.

Activities include fall trail maintenance, an annual meeting and pot-luck supper, winter grooming and shoveling of snow banks at road crossings, and the occasional fund- or awareness-raising activity.

Trail grooming equipment consists of a Ski-Doo Skandic snowmobile, Tidd Tech groomer, and snow roller/compactor.
